Cuvée 2021
I managed to find some bottles of 3 Sheeps Cuvée 2021 and I'm pretty excited. To me, this beer is a darned-near perfect barrel-aged specimen. I know people really line up for certain beers out there e.g. "Black Gold" from Central Waters. And there's an increasing trend in double-barrel-aging and higher ABVs. Don't get me wrong, I'm not very picky. I usually like BA beer. Some of them tip the scales though on sweetness.
What I liked about Cuvée 2020 is that it doesn't try so hard to be the biggest, meanest, most-barrely beer ever. It's simply a blend of their barrel aged beers from 2019 at proportions designed by the brewers in what was probably a fun day of tasting, blending, and re-tasting. To me, it seems like the beers combine to make a beer that's somehow smoother. Like combining four different dark chocolates and getting Nutella. It's crazy!
The 2021 version is (to me) a little spicier and perhaps a little more acidic. Still very very nice.
