Hard To Kill
This movie is about a cop that avenges his family's murder after he lies in a coma for 7 years. And that seems appropriate, because you'll probably want to keep brain activity to a minimum while watching this. It's Seagal in his pomp. The workout montages were great, because he's got to go from zero muscles to all-muscle in a matter of weeks while hiding out from the dirty cops and politicians who want him dead. Saxophones and electric guitar light up the score. Kelly Le Brock's accent is a little distracting. I think she's genuinely english enough, but she sounds more like an american doing a crappy english accent. A decent action movie from the golden age of action.
The villain is played by the guy who played the villain in Die Hard 2. He plays a gangster/senator and over-uses his "... and you can take that to the bank" line too many times, causing Storm (Seagal) to reply (in a scene where he's talking to himself) with: "I'm gonna take you to the bank Senator Trent. To the blood bank." Maybe a moment of genius improvisation by Seagal was what thwarted this film from winning the oscar for best screenplay. I don't know, but that was one of those lines that was so bad it was great.
